Liposome extrusion: pore size and final particle size

Pore size is one process variable. Formulation, temperature and pass count also affect the resulting distribution.

Pore size is not a result guarantee

A membrane provides geometric constraints, while composition, concentration and operation also affect vesicles. Verify final size through suitable measurement.

Consider temperature and pass count

Set temperature around lipid phase behavior and stability, and record each pass. More passes do not necessarily improve every quality attribute.

Evaluate related quality attributes

Depending on use, assess encapsulation, stability and material loss as well as size and distribution. Formulation and quality requirements determine the test plan.
